Pre-Program Assembly

Pre-Program Assembly is the first – historic meeting of former SWY program participants, held before the Global Assembly in Sweden.

After many requests from program graduates and in order to allow more people to experience Polish culture, SWY Poland organized the program from 31.07.2024 – 2.08.2024 in Gdynia.

Participants had the opportunity to spend time at the Polish seaside, see the most beautiful and interesting places in the Tri-City, followed by a ferry ride to GA in Sweden

Honorary patronage of the event was assumed by the President of Gdynia.

On the first day, participants of the Pre-Program Assembly, had time to get to know each other, see the area, learn more about the history of the place where they are located. At the hotel, gifts prepared by our partners awaited the participants. In the evening there was a welcome dinner.

The second day began with a visit to the Crist shipyard, where Pre-Program Assembly participants saw the process of building a ship from the first sheet metal to launching. They then visited the Emigration Museum in Gdynia, where they learned about the stories of migrating families and the huge role the port of Gdynia played at the time. In the afternoon, the biggest attraction was a visit to the Experiment Science Center, where we did physical, chemical and geographical experiments, having a lot of fun. The last attraction of the day was a guided walk starting from Kamienna Góra, through Kosciuszko Square, ORP Blyskawica and Dar Pomorza to the seaside boulevard, which the participants used to return to the hotel.

The highlight of the day was the official banquet, attended by Mr. Daisuke Yamashita – Director of the Department of Information and Culture, Head of the Political Section of the Embassy of Japan in Poland, who read out a letter from the Ambassador of Japan in Poland addressed to the participants of the program. A word to the guests was also addressed by the Vice Mayor of Gdynia – Ms. Octavia Gorzenska. The banquet was honored by the performance of Mr. Maksym Rzeminski, who played the most beautiful melodies of Polish film classics and the most famous foreign works.

The participants spent the last day of the program in Gdansk. First, they visited the Long Market and learned interesting facts about the capital of Pomerania. The official end of the program took place in one of Gdansk’s townhouses, where the participants received certificates and gifts to thank them for participating in the historic event. After a farewell lunch, they departed for Westerplatte, from where they sailed to Sweden to attend the Global Assembly there. The three-day stay in Poland was filled with attractions, emotions that will always remain in the memory of our friends from Poland, Australia and Japan.
